feature intro
Like all of VersaLogic’s rugged x86 compatible embedded computers, the Viper is designed, manufactured, and tested to be reliable in critical and demanding environments. These environments include extreme temperatures, high shock, excessive vibration, and high humidity. It has gone through: a strict component selection and evaluation process, worst-case stress testing, state-of-the-art compliance and validation testing of all high-speed signals, verification of the external interfaces, and extensive power and four-corner thermal testing. Powered by a 4th generation Intel “Bay Trail” ATOM processor, the Viper is performance optimized for lower power consumption and compatibility with the broadest range of x86 applications and development tools to ensure reduced system cost and development time. There are three different CPU options designed to fit the price and performance goals. They range from single-core to quad-core processors. All the processor models are equipped with Intel’s advanced performance capabilities. There are several other Intel technologies built into the CPU including Virtualization, AES Instructions, and Intel 64 architecture. The Viper supports two SO-DIMM memory sockets that allow up to 16 GB of total memory. This memory space helps to support demanding applications such as data mining, data buffering, and data logging. The well-established EBX format (Embedded Board Expandable) is an excellent balance of size, economy, and functionality. With 46 square inches of surface area, this bolt-down SBC format supports embedded designs with higher performance CPUs and generous on-board I/O functions. The EBX form factor is one of the most effective cost and size solutions for the majority of OEM applications.
