Bushings and Grommets are used to insulate between an opening in a panel and any items (most often cables and wire) that are inserted into the opening. These devices can also hold the inserted objects securely between the two sides of the opening. The characteristics are bushing/grommet type, panel thickness, panel cutout dimensions, diameter inside, and material.
Cable Supports and Fasteners
Cable Supports and Fasteners are used to hold cables and wires securely to a board or panel. The characteristics are type, type attributes, opening size, mounting type, and material. The types are channel, clamp, clip, and support with the mounting types being adhesive, arrowhead, beam mount, bracket, cable tie, ceiling mount, clip on, connector mount, DIN rail, drop wires, edge mount, fastener, fir tree, free hanging, magnetic, pipe mount, push in, rod mount, solder, stud mount, T-Bar mount, wall mount, and weld stud.
Cable Ties - Holders and Mountings
Cable Tie Holders and Mountings devices are designed to hold wire ties securely to another item. The types are dual opening, multiple opening, quad opening, signal opening, standard, triple opening, and 2-dual opening with the mounting types being adhesive, cable tie, clip on, edge mount, epoxy, magnetic, masonry screw, push in, push mount, rivet, screw, stud, staple, tie mount, torque mount, and weld stud mount.
Cable Ties and Zip Ties
Cable Ties and Cable Lacing are a strip of fabric, metal, or plastic that is used to bundle or secure items together. The two ends of the strip are connected using a variety of fastening techniques. The bundle diameters vary from 0.10” (2.49 mm) to 44.00” (1117.60 mm) and have tensile strengths ranging from 8 lbs. (3.62 kg) to 1200 lbs. (544.32 kg).
Cable and Cord Grips
Cable and cord grip products, sometimes also called cable feedthroughs, cable glands, or cable seals, are a family of products used to mechanically secure a cable or wire as it passes through an enclosure wall or exits a sealed conduit, guarding against abrasion at the exit point and damage to the internal portion from excess tension applied to the outer portion. Many such products also provide a high degree of environmental protection, allowing an enclosure to remain sealed against ingress of moisture even though a cable or wire is passed through its outer wall.
Fiber Optic Cables
Fiber Optics are cables that contains a glass or plastic thread enclosed within a jacketed material.
Grounding Braid, Straps
Products in this family are woven from fine strands of conductive material into a form having either a rectangular or circular cross-section, and sold as either a simple length of such material or an assembly with a terminal of some form pre-applied. The woven construction provides significant flexibility, and in the case of tubular materials, an interesting property of constricting diametrically when stretched axially allows it to function as a "finger trap". Such products are commonly used for creating electrical connections between machine or enclosure components, and in cable harness assembly for purposes of electrostatic shielding, abrasion resistance, or cosmetic purposes.
Heat Shrink Boots, Caps
Heat shrink is a device used in cable and wire management. It is created from a material specifically designed to shrink to a predefined ratio to form a tight, seamless bond around wires and cables. Boots and caps are particularly designed to fit over the wire and connector terminals to help secure the connection or to cap off and protect wires or cables. To select the proper boot or cap, you need the shell size, supplied diameter, and recovered diameter. Other defining properties are the color, type, and length. These have many special feature options such as: abrasion resistant, adhesive coating, chemical resistant, fluid resistant, heat resistant, strain resistant, flame retardant, etc.
Heat Shrink Fabric
Heat Shrink Fabric are hollow pieces of polyolefin, polyester, or polyethylene that become smaller in size as they become warm. Most often used as insulation material when connecting wires together. Other uses are grouping wires together, insulate items from mechanical wear, and rattle suppression. With a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 shrinking ratio in lengths from 1.772” (45.00 mm) to 1640.4’ (500.0 m) in supplied diameters of 0.24” (6.1 mm) to 3.94” (100.0 mm).
Heat Shrink Tubing
Heat Shrink Tubing are hollow tubes of woven material with both ends open. These tubes become smaller in size as they warmed by hot air or a flame. Most often used as insulation material when connecting wires together, these tubes can be used to group wires together, or insulate items from mechanical wear plus a lot more. The shrinking ratio ranges from 1.2:1 to 6:1 with lengths from 0.031’ (9.52mm, 0.38”) to 6562.0’ (2000.0m) and an inner diameter ranges of 0.014” (0.36mm) to 11.220” (284.99mm).
Heat Shrink Wrap
Side entry, adhesive lined polyolefin heat shrink wrap allows protection and repair of damaged wire and cable insulation on in-service or assembled electrical systems. Wrap the tubing over the wire or cable connection and use a standard heat gun to activate the adhesive and recover (shrink) the tubing. It is selected by length, width and thickness.
Items in this family are materials and products used for marking or labeling wires, circuit breakers, switches, etc. They range from bulk materials such as heat shrinkable tubing that can be written on prior to application, to rolls of pre-cut labels of uniform size designed for use with a specific manufacturer's printing equipment. Similar items with pre-printed letters, characters, or other information are not included.
Markers are small numeric labels used for identification of wires. These devices are secured to wires and cables through a variety of means: Adhesive, Cable Tie, Clip-on, Slip-on, Perforated, Cards, Heat Shrinkable, Push-on, Slip-in, Miniature, and Tape with Dispenser. Sizes range from 0.08” to 2.13” Dia., 0.12” W x 0.12” L to 14.00” W x 23.00” L.
Protective Hoses, Solid Tubing, Sleeving
Protective Hoses, Solid Tubing, and Sleeving are hollow pieces of Aramid, Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene, Fiberglass, Polyamide, Polyester, Polyethylene, Polymer, Polyolefin, Polypropylene, Polytetrafluoroethylene, Polyvinylidene, Silica, Stainless Steel, and Steel in operating temperatures of -200°C to +648°C in lengths ranging from 0.062’ (19.05mm, 0.75”) to 1000’ (3048.00m) with both ends open.
Solder Sleeves are small, hollow pieces of heat shrinkable tubing that have rings of solder incorporated into them. As they are heated, the tubing shrinks making a mechanical bond between the wires inserted into them. At the same time, the solder melts forming an electrical connection, securely splicing wires together. Coming in a variety of diameters and lengths with special features such as environmental resistances and pre-installed lead wires, solder sleeves are suitable for a wide range of wire sizes and applications.
Spiral Wrap, Expandable Sleeving
Spiral wrap, or expandable sleeving, are designed to aid in wire management. They are made from various flexible materials to allow the cover, slit wrap, self wrap, sleeve, or spiral wrap to be easily manipulated around wire bundles. They are defined by the type, inner and outer diameters (expanded and non-expanded), material, color, and length. Some offer abrasion, liquid, and/or environmental protection options.
Splice Enclosures, Protection
Splice enclosure and protection products are used to guard junctions of fiber optic or electrical conductors against damage or ingress of foreign materials and contaminants. Included products range from specially adapted plastic enclosures with hinged lids intended for indoor use, to single use mold/epoxy kits designed for protecting direct-buried electrical utility service lines.
