Panasonic Thermal Management

Think Panasonic if your next design requires a Thermal Management solution. Today’s design standards continue to increase and the common methods of heat transfer are failing to address common thermal issues. Panasonic is a proud Thermal Management supplier with a diversified portfolio that can challenge the thermal concerns of today and tomorrow.

Panasonic’s Thermal Management products include a wide range of options such as the staple PGS – Pyrolytic Graphite Sheets thermal interface material and the more recently introduced solutions such as SSM – Semi-sealing Material, Graphite-PAD, NASBIS Insulator Sheets and Soft PGS.

Soft PGS

Soft PGSPanasonic’s “Soft PGS” is an ideal Thermal Interface Material (TIM) solution. Soft PGS is designed with high compressibility characteristics to reduce contact thermal resistance between rough surfaces in extremely thin spaces. Custom cut to IGBT Module footprints, Soft PGS contributes to long life and increased performance of power modules by providing high thermostability and reliability in thermally sensitive areas. Panasonic’s Soft PGS is easy to install with a one-to-two-step process that requires much lower labor and installation costs than thermal grease.

PGS (Pyrolytic Graphite Sheet)

Pyrolytic Graphite SheetPGS is a thermal interface material which is thin, synthetically made, has high thermal conductivity and is made from a highly oriented graphite polymer film. PGS is ideal for providing thermal management and heat-sinking in limited spaces or to provide supplemental heat-sinking in addition to conventional means. This PGS material is flexible and can be cut into customizable shapes.

SSM (Semi-Sealing Material)

Semi-Sealing MaterialPanasonic’s SSM is a non-silicone based, thermoplastic resin that can conform to any rough and uneven surface with the right temperature and applied pressure conditions to absorb heat. Combined with Panasonic’s PGS, this material allows for PGS to be used in areas where compressibility is needed to prevent high thermal contact resistance.

NASBISPanasonic’s "NASBIS" stands for Nano Silica Balloon Insulator Sheet. It's a thin, flexible Nano-Silica heat insulating material composed of silica aerogel and a polyester fiber that has high thermal isolative properties. The thermal conductivity of NASBIS is lower than that of air, making it a very attractive material for heat insulation. Panasonic NASBIS Sheets protect thermally weak products from heat and works to maintain a uniform temperature throughout a device.

Graphite-PADPanasonic’s Graphite-PAD is a silicone resin based pad composed of graphite flakes oriented in the vertical Z-axis thickness direction. Along with providing superior flexibility, the Graphite-PAD product can serve as a thermal interface material between a heat sink and an Integrated Circuit. Graphite-PADs are composed of silicone resin and Pyrolytic Graphite Sheets (PGS) as filler. This combination of materials offers high Thermal Management reliability by enabling designs with high heat dissipation.
