The Mill-Max Omniball contact is an interface designed to replace traditional blunt-tipped spring pins with a unique rolling ball interface. While the original line focused on surface-mount styles, this through-hole version provides enhanced mechanical strength for permanent PCB attachments. By utilizing a gold-plated brass ball as the contact point, the Omniball allows for sliding and rotational engagement, significantly reducing wear and friction in lateral mating applications. When compressed, the ball remains in constant contact with the internal spring and pin body, ensuring a low-resistance electrical path even while in motion. This makes it an ideal solution for twist-and-lock mechanisms or any docking scenario where the mating components aren't perfectly aligned vertically.
