Fluke Networks fiber media converter (FMC) kits help users to understand and debug fiber port connections by determining application, switch name, port name, and VLAN, and verifying connectivity using IP ping. The FMC includes the media converters, SFPs, fiber optic cords, and RJ45 cable to connect with any LinkIQ™ tester to troubleshoot network connectivity.

When testing a connection through the FMC, the “network” test provides results that can tell if there is an Ethernet connection to the device at the far end (typically a switch) and if users can send IP traffic to targets at the far end.
