Window Alarm with Buzzer Reference Design

Renesas' quick solution for enhancing window security utilizes the RL78/G10 MCU

Image of Renesas' Window Alarm Reference DesignRenesas' quick solutions feature a reference design for a window alarm with a buzzer that can be installed on windows, door entrances, and more. When a vibration caused by an outside force is detected, an alarm will sound to scare off intruders.

This window alarm solution with a buzzer features the RL78/G10 general-purpose MCU functions such as external interrupt, a timer module, a buzzer output controller, and a watchdog timer. In a normal situation when there is no vibration to a window, the device will enter STOP mode. When vibration is detected, it will release from STOP mode and sound an alarm. The RL78/G10 STOP mode function enables power consumption to be suppressed allowing for longer battery life. The window alarm with a buzzer can play a defensive and alarm role for ordinary house doors and windows, large glass windows, glass cabinets, and booths.

Features
  • Demonstration board includes the RL78/G10 MCU
  • After vibration is detected, the system will activate an audible and visual alarm
  • The sound of the alarm is around 80 dB and lasts 20 seconds
  • After the ON/OFF switch is activated, the system is powered on and starts initialization, the vibration detection sensor starts to operate 10 seconds later
  • Reset standby function: LED blinks with a 50 ms cycle and lasts 10 seconds
  • The LED blinks about every 3.28 seconds to indicate the MCU is operating normally
