BLE 4.2 Long Range Modules Enable Long Range Connectivity for the IoT

Infineon's EZ-BLE™ PRoC™ extended range (XR) BT 4.2 modules (CYBLE-2X20XX-X1) are fully qualified/certified (FCC, CE, MIC, KC, IC) Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) modules supporting BLE wireless communication, for up to 400 m line-of-sight connectivity. These modules are fully Bluetooth 4.2 compliant. In addition, these turnkey IoT solutions are highly integrated by including an onboard PA, LNA, two crystal oscillators, and passive components. They support a number of peripheral functions (ADC, timers, counters, PWM) and serial communication protocols (I²C, UART, SPI) through a programmable architecture.

Although Bluetooth has historically been known as a short-range wireless protocol,  BLE is being leveraged in a variety of IoT applications due to its low power, long range capabilities.
