DigiKey Hosts 200 Students for VEX V5 Robotics Competition

Students compete in game-based robotics challenges at DigiKey’s world headquarters.

DigiKey, the global distribution leader of electronic components and automation products, hosted the inaugural 2026 DigiKey Warehouse VEX V5 Robotics Competition at its world headquarters in Thief River Falls on Feb. 6. The tournament brought together more than 200 middle and high school competitors, along with their parents and supporters, to the northern Minnesota community.

“DigiKey has a longstanding commitment to inspiring the next generation of engineers, and hosting this competition is one of the many ways we support that mission,” said Robert Fay, application engineering manager at DigiKey. “We’re thrilled to welcome so many young people into our community and show them the exciting career opportunities that could await them in Thief River Falls and beyond.”

VEX Robotics is a premier global educational and competitive robotics platform for students from elementary school through university. VEX competitions foster questioning, tinkering, experimentation, and play skills, and leverage the motivational effects of competition and robotics to help all students develop an identity as STEM learners. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state and national levels and culminate at the VEX Robotics World Championship each April.
