Assorted Tool Kits
Assorted Tool Kits are groupings of hand tools that are used in combination with each other to provide a specific result. Some of the usages are adjustment-alignment, audio/video, automotive, broadcast applications, Cat5 data communication, coaxial cable, crimping, computer service, D-sub SEK connector, data cable, Datacom networking, electrical, Ethernet, fiber optic, general purpose, industrial, mobile, modular connectors, soldering, and wiring.
Crimpers - Crimp Heads, Die Sets
Crimp heads and die sets are components of modular tooling systems, most typically used for the assembly of crimp-on interconnect products to wire or cable materials. They are the component of such systems that mechanically interfaces with a workpiece, and by being modular or interchangeable, allow the use of a common mechanism for generating force or motion to be used for applying a range of interconnect products, as well as lowering replacement costs should damage or wear occur.
Crimpers, Applicators, Presses - Accessories
Products in this family are used in conjunction with other products used to apply contacts or connectors to wire, cable or similar materials. These items include replacement fasteners and retaining clips, springs, set screws, locators, replacement blades, index stops, spacers, guide plates, and other products related to maintenance or operation of such equipment.
Crimpers, Applicators, Presses
Crimpers, Applicators, and Presses are devices used to join wires to contacts by compressing the crimp portion of the contact. These devices may or may not contain a head or die set which is made specifically for the wire size and contact/terminal type being used. The tool types are applicator, bench press, crimp unit, hand crimper, hand press, hand tool, and pump unit. The tool actuation methods are AC powered, automated, battery powered, hydraulic, manual, or pneumatic.
Fiber Optics and Accessories
Fiber Optics and Accessories are collections of tools and kits designed to be used with a fiber optic connection and/or termination. They range from cleaning and polishing kits to full termination tool kits for nearly all common connection styles and core sizes of fiber optic cabling.
Hex, Torx Keys
Products in this family are hand tools used in conjunction with screw style fasteners having hexagonal, internal wrenching heads. Hex keys or wrenches, also known by the trademark "Allen" name, are used with screw fasteners having a simple hexagonal socket in their heads. The Torx (also a trademark) style, known alternatively as star or hexalobular screw head form, exaggerates the points of the basic hexagon form into a 6-pointed star shape, allowing increased torque transfer or reduced likelihood of screw head damage.
Insertion, Extraction tool is a device used to place or remove a contact within a housing of a connector. The types are Adapter, Bench Press, Extraction tool, Index Slide, Insertion Guide Pin, Insertion Tool, and Termination Tool that are used for backplane connectors, Circular connectors, BNC connectors, Card Edge connectors, Coaxial RF connectors, D-sub connectors, Fiber Optic connectors, Heavy Duty Contacts, Photovoltaic contacts, Quick Connect Terminals, and Rectangular Contacts to name a few.
Knives, Cutting Tools
Knives and cutting tools consist of any handheld, bladed tool. A list of items in this category include: pocket knives, scissors, box cutters, utility knives, bolt cutters, conduit knives, precision knives, sheers, notches, nibblers, scrapers, PVC cutters, steel strap cutters, etc. Replacement blades for the aforementioned tools are also found in this category.
Pliers are a universal hand tool used to firmly hold onto objects. They are available in many different tip or nose styles such as: rounded, needle, flat, long, diagonal, shot, bent, snipe or chain nose, etc. The jaws can be smooth or serrated with straight or angled tips. There are many different jaw lengths to select from as well as additional features such as a crushing slot, for example.
Screw and Nut Drivers - Sets
Screw and nut driver sets are assortments of hand tools used for insertion and removal of threaded fasteners, sold collectively in order to provide a convenient means of procuring tools suitable for use with fasteners having various head styles and/or sizes. Sets are available for driving fasteners with phillips, slotted, hex, Torx® and other head styles.
Screw and Nut Drivers
Products in the screw and nut driver family are hand tools used for the insertion or removal of threaded fasteners. Tools suitable for fasteners with a variety of head types are available, including hex, pentalobe, phillips, slotted, square, Torx®, Pozidrive®, Tri-Wing®, and others. While the majority of included products are manually actuated, electric-powered tools of similar type are also available.
Specialty tools are designed to meet specific needs or applications such as holding, gripping, straightening and alignment, measurement, forming and fabrication, grinding and polishing, cutting and threading, inspection, climbing, assembly, installation, and removal. They are selected by their individual attributes or how they are used with related products.
Wire Cutters are a device designed to separate wire by splitting that object between two sharp edges. The type of cutters are cable, ribbon cable, shears, side, and tip with a cutting edge of bevel, flush, full flush, razor flush, semi flush, and shear having an angled, circular, oval, straight, or tapered shape.
Wire Strippers and Accessories
Wire Strippers and Accessories are designed to cut through the insulation of a wire or cable, but not through the conductive material. The types are cable slitter, crimp and stripping machine, multi-level stripper, Pneumatic wire stripping machine, ripper, sheathing stripper, single level stripper, splitter, stripper, and a thermal stripper.
Wire Tie Guns and Accessories
Wire Tie Guns and accessories are devices used to tighten and/or cut wire tie fasteners. Wire tie-guns can be automatic or manual, flush cut or twist cut-off, stationary head or rotating head, and have adjustable tension for the ties whether nylon or steel. Some of the series include BARB-TY, Contour-Ty, Dome-Top, EVO, Mark 7 &9, Milwaukee, MKP, MT, Pan-Steel, RT, ServiceGrade, TytonTwister, UNIFOX, WIT, and WSM.
A wrench or spanner is a tool used to provide grip and mechanical advantage in applying torque to turn rotary fasteners such as nuts bolts or to prevent rotation. Wrenches are made in SAE, metric and adjustable configurations to fit a wide variety of fastener sizes and may employ features such as high voltage insulation or angled ends for special conditions. Common tool types are box end, open end, ratcheting, combination, torque and lineman's wrenches.
