ISM02 and IML02 Series, Medical DC/DC Converters

XP Power features their ISM02 and IML02 series, miniature, 2 W DC-DC converters for use in medical applications

Image of XP Power's ISM02 and IML02 Series Medical DC/DC ConvertersXP Power announces the IML02 and ISM02, miniature, 2 W rated DC-DC converters for use in medical device applications that require safety isolation between the input and output. These converters provide 4000 VAC reinforced isolation with 1 x MOPP at 300 VAC (250 VAC model IML02) working voltage and, ideal for use in patient-connected devices, have a very-low 2 µA patient leakage current.

Featuring 2 W of output power, and with both single- and dual-voltage output models, the converters are available in an SMD package (model ISM02) or a through-hole, industry standard SIP7 package (model IML02).

The converters’ small size, only 19.5 mm x 9.8 mm x 12.5 mm for the SIP-7 packaged IML02 and 24.0 mm x 18.0 mm x 9.0 mm for the ISM02, takes up less PCB space, and in both cases afford the product designer with more room to add extra features or alternatively reduce the overall size of the end product.

Both converters feature extended operating temperature ranges, -40° to 85°C for IML02 and -25° to 105°C for the ISM02. Offering high efficiency, a wide operating temperature, and very-small footprints, the units are well suited to modern, compact medical devices.

The IML02 is available in four different input voltage ranges for nominal 5 VDC, 12 VDC,15 VDC, or 24 VDC inputs, while the ISM02 is available in three ranges for 5 VDC, 12 VDC and 24 VDC input applications. The ISM02 offers single-output models of 5 V, 12 V, and 15 V, as well as ±12 V and ±15 V dual-output models, while the IML02 has 3.3 V, 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, 15 V, and ± dual versions of each voltage.

The converters meet Class B EMI EN55011 standards (conducted EMI requires a small input filter for the IML range) and carry worldwide medical safety approvals to 60601-1 standards.
