Samsung's soft-termination capacitors help prevent internal cracks of MLCCs caused by mechanical and thermal shocks

Image of Samsung Electro-Mechanics's Soft-Termination CapacitorsSamsung Electro-Mechanics has released soft-termination MLCC which can endure bending strength above 3 mm. This product prevents fracturing caused by mechanical stress and thermal shocks on the PCB. General MLCCs could generate short circuit failure because of fracturing that could be caused by the high deformation of PCB. However, soft-termination MLCC can minimize the internal stress inside the chip as metal epoxy is applied to external electrodes. Thus, soft-termination capacitor is recommended for network, power, and more.
