Murata features their LQM21P series compact power inductors for mobile devices

LQM21P Series Multilayer Inductors As mobile devices become increasingly multifunctional they are being designed to become smaller and thinner, as well as, incorporating a greater number of DC/DC Converters to drive dissimilar voltages of camera, radio, and television functions. In addition, higher packaging densities are expected in power supply circuits of mobile devices along with higher switching frequencies above 1 MHz. Thus, in designing and selecting an ideal inductor for use with a DC/DC converter in mobile devices, an engineer must consider the effects produced by the implementation of higher switching frequencies and higher packaging density in power supply circuits.

To meet this growing inductor requirement for higher frequency switching DC/DC converter applications within mobile devices, Murata Electronics has released the LQM21P series. The LQM21P series are multilayer inductors packaged in a compact 0805 package with a maximum height of 0.55 mm. Utilizing Murata Electronics original ferrite material technology and innovative structural design has allowed for the following features to be incorporated into the LQM21P series inductors:

  • Small size in 2.0 mm x 1.25 mm x 0.55 mm package (0805 size)
  • Inductance range: 0.47 µH to 2.2 µH
  • Stable inductance value while DC is in a biased state
  • Large rated current of 1100 mA
  • Outstanding solder heat resistance, either flow or reflow
  • Soldering methods can be employed
  • RoHS compliant
  • Magnetically shielded structure
  • Stable inductance value against temperature changes
  • Stable voltage conversion efficiency in a wide range of frequency bands
  • Low AC resistance for enhanced performance of high frequency switching circuits above 1 MHz
