AVX offers their porcelain and ceramic, dielectric, multilayer capacitor chips with an internal construction that allows for lower ESR than in previous versions

Microwave Multi-Layer CapacitorsAVX has developed porcelain and ceramic dielectric multilayer capacitor chips with a new internal construction that allows for as much as 40% lower ESR than in previous versions. Designated the SQ Series, the chips are ideal for RF/microwave applications ranging from 10 MHz to 4.2 GHz. The new design has a finegrained, high density, high purity dielectric material to keep out moisture and includes internal palladium electrodes. This makes the SQ Series ideal for applications with high current carrying capabilities and high quality factors. The caps also offer very low ESR and very high series resonance. Applications such as microwave RF/IF amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, low noise amplifiers, filter-networks, and medical devices such as MRI coils would all benefit from the SQ Series’ characteristics. Available in various package cases with voltages up to 500 VDC, the SQ Series offers superior stability under the stresses of changing voltage, frequency, time, and temperature.
